Povlja is situated on the northern side of the island of Brac. It is about 10 kilometers from Sumartin, and there are 400 inhabitants in this village. They live from fishing, growing vineyards, growing olives and tourism. In the ancient times Povalja was an anchorage for Roman galleons. For the cultural historic monuments we shall mention the «Povljanska listina» that is the oldest written document wrote in Cyrilic script in Croatian language, and then there is the Old-Christian basilica that was built in the 5th and the 6th century. The accomodation in Povlja is offered in private villas, rooms and apartments. For those who prefer active vacation there are numerous sport fields: football, basketball, tennis, and water sports like diving and sailing. The hospitable people will always offer you specialties from the local cuisine and local wines. This place is the destination for tourists who want to spend a quiet family vacation, and for those a bit younger there is a lot of fun in one of the local cafes. We recommend you to visit other places on this magnificent island – Supetar, Sumartin,  Splitska , Selca, Postira, Pucisca, Milna, Bol, Mirca, Murvica, Sutivan and Nerezisca.
