Splitska is located on the north side of the island of
Brac, and it is 7 kilometers to the west from Postira. There are 250
inhabitants living in this village, and they traditionally grow olives and wine
grapes, but also live from tourism. In the ancient times – when Diocletian was
a ruler – this was a port for exporting the famous limestone from Brac. The
very Diocletian Palace in Split was built from this limestone. From cultural
and historical sights we should mention the church of the Virgin Mary Stomorna,
that was built on the remains of the church with the same name , from the 13th
century. The church of St Jadra was built between the 5th and the 6th century,
and it is located on the road to Skrip.. Splitska is the favourite destination
of tourists that are looking for a
peacuful family vacation, enjoying on some of the beautiful beaches, clean sea
or neat promenades. You can find accomodation in private apartments or rooms.
The hospitable locals will make you feel welcome, and offer you something from
the local cuisine, and the wines from his very own cellar. We recommend you to
visit other places on this magnificent island – Supetar, Sumartin, Selca, Postira, Povlja, Pucisca, Milna, Bol,
Mirca, Murvica, Sutivan and Nerezisca.
